Single Family Residence, Ashburnham, MA
In November Advanced Energy Systems installed a Schuco Three collector solar hot water array at a residence in Ashburnham, Ma. The solar hot water system utilized a Rheem Marathon Tank and a Heliodyne HPAK 16 pump station in addition to the Schuco flat plate collectors.  Backup water heating was provided by an Airgenerate hot water heat pump system.

Single Family Residence, Concord, MA
In November Advanced Energy Systems installed a Schuco two collector solar hot water array at a residence in Concord, Ma. The solar hot water system utilized a Rheem Marathon Tank and a Heliodyne HPAK 16 pump station in addition to the Schuco flat plate collectors.

In October Advanced Energy Systems installed a Schuco Three collector solar hot water array at a residence in Woburn, Ma. The solar hot water system utilized a Rheem Marathon Tank and a Heliodyne HPAK 16 pump station in addition to the ground mounted Schuco flat plate collectors.

Backup water heating was provided by an Airgenerate hot water heat pump system.

Single Family Residence, Little Compton, RI
In May Advanced Energy Systems installed an Apricus two collector 50 evacuated tube solar hot water array at a residence in Little Compton, RI. The solar hot water system utilized a Rheem Marathon Tank and a Heliodyne HPAK 16 pump station in addition to a Schuco PS 1.3 pump station for diverting flow to heat a swimming pool.

Backup water heating was provided by an Airgenerate hot water heat pump system.

In September Advanced Energy Systems installed a SunMaxx 25 tube evacuated tube solar hot water collector array at a residence in Wellesley, Ma. The solar hot water system utilized a HTP SuperStor Tank and a Schuco PS 1.3 pump station in addition to the SunMaxx collectors.

On March 21 Advanced Energy Systems Development installed an Apricus AP-30 solar domestic hot water system sized for 2 to 3 occupants in a residence in Charlestown, MA.

In April Advanced Energy Systems Development installed a three collector array comprised of Schuco Slim V collectors that will provide domestic hot water to a family of four.  The solar storage tank is a 105 gallon Rheem Marathon tank and the pump station is from Purist Energy.  The backup system is a gas fired tankless on demand system.

In May Advanced Energy Systems Development installed a three collector array comprised of Schuco Slim V collectors that will provide domestic hot water to a family of four.  The solar storage tank is a 105 gallon Rheem Marathon tank and the pump station is from Purist Energy.

Heliodyne GOBI 410 Collectors

Single Family Residence, Waltham, MA
In May Advanced Energy Systems Development installed a three collector array comprised of Heliodyne GOBI 410 collectors that will provide domestic hot water to a family of five.  The solar storage tank is a 105 gallon Rheem Marathon tank and the pump station is from Purist Energy.  The backup system is a Steibel Eltron Tempra 24 tankless on demand system.

Single Family Residence, Wellesley, MA
In May Advanced Energy Systems Development installed a two collector array comprised of Apricus AP-20 evacuated tube collectors that will provide domestic hot water to a family of four.  The solar storage tank is a 60 gallon SuperStor Ultra tank.  The system is powered and controlled by a 40 Watt BP photovoltaic module and an El Sid 20 V DC pump.

In June Advanced Energy Systems Development installed a two collector array comprised of Schuco Slim V collectors that will provide domestic hot water to a family of two.  The solar storage tank is an 80 gallon Rheem Rudd tank and the pump station is from Purist Energy.

Single Family Residence, Lincoln, MA

In July Advanced Energy Systems Development installed a two collector array on a new construction residential structure in Lincoln.  The array consisted of two Schuco Slim V collectors paired with a Rheem Marathon solar storage tank and a Heliodyne HelioPak 16 pump station.

In July Advanced Energy Systems Development installed a one collector array comprised of a Heliodyne GOBI 410 collector that will provide domestic hot water to a family of 2.  The solar storage tank is a 70 gallon Rheem Marathon tank and the pump station is a Heliodyne HelioPak 16.  This system is rated as OG 300 by SRCC and was eligible for a 15% rebate from National Grid.


Single Family Residence, West Roxbury, MA

In August Advanced Energy Systems Development installed a two collector array comprised of Heliodyne GOBI 410 collectors that will provide domestic hot water to a two family residence with an occupancy of 5.  The solar storage tank is a 105 gallon Rheem Marathon tank and the pump station is a Heliodyne HelioPak 16.  This system is rated as OG 300 by SRCC and was eligible for a 15% rebate from National Grid.  The solar storage tank feeds each residential unit's gas fired hot water tank.

In September, Advanced Energy Systems Development installed a three collector array on a flat roof(10 degree inclination) in Central Square, Cambridge.  The three Schuco Slim V collectors face due face and are mounted on Schuco tilt rack that has been attached to roof curbs.  A Schuco PS2 pump station and Delta Sol controller operate the system which utilizes a SuperStor storage tank.

In December, Advanced Energy Systems Development installed a four collector array on a home in Hopkinton that will serve six occupants.  The system consisted on Schuco Slim V collectors(4), Heliodyne HelioPak 16 pump station and a Rheem Marathon solar storage tank.  In addition, an existing indirect hot water tank was replaced with a 45 gallon SuperStor indirect tank.

Single Family Residence, Halifax, MA
In January Advanced Energy Systems Development installed a WattSun dual axis tracker with 12 Sanyo 200 watt HIT photovoltaic modules at a residence in Halifax, MA.  This unit is averaging 500 kwhrs of production per month.

Single Family Residence, Mancester by the Sea, MA    

On March 22, 2008 Advanced Energy Systems Development installed a two rack-60 PRobbins.jpgtube Apricus evacuated tube solar domestic hot water system at a single family residence in Mancester by the Sea, MA.

Single Family Residence, Newton, MA

On May 3, 2008 Advanced Energy Systems Development installed a two panel Schuco solar domestic hot water system at a single family residence in Newton, MA.  This system is operated by a BP 30 watt photovoltaic module(upper right) and an El Sid 20 PV dc pump. 

This system requires NO utility power to operate and will provide domestic hot water through an extended power outage.

On May 24, 2008 Advanced Energy Systems Development installed a two panel Schuco domestic hot water system at a single family residence in Needham, MA.

Swimming Pool Solar Heater, Beverly Farms, MA

On June 17, 2008 Advanced Energy Systems Development installed a two rack Sun Maxx 25 solar pool heating system at a single family residence in Beverly Farms, MA.  The two racks consisting of a total of 50 evacuated tubes

mounted on a site built at grade rack will be used to heat a 20' x 40' swimming pool.

On September 12, 2008 Advanced Energy Systems Development installed a three panel Schuco SLIM V flat plate collector domestic hot water system at a single family

residence in Needham, MA.  The physical layout of the structure did not allow us to route the closed glycol loop pipes through the house, the pipes were routed unobtrusively behind

the chimney and encased in SLIM DUCT to minimize their visibility.

Advanced Energy Systems Development is in the process of installing Aerovironment AVX-1000 architectural wind turbines at the Holyoke Center at Harvard University, Cambridge, MA.  The initial delivered unit is currently on display in the lobby of the Holyoke Center.  If the project is carried to completion the Holyoke Center would be the largest distributed power project in Cambridge, MA.

Recent Projects - 2007


Hampshire County Jail and House of Correction, Northampton, Massachusetts

Advanced Energy Systems Development has been retained by the Hampshire County Sheriff's Department to survey, evaluate, recommend and implement system improvements to a 300 panel solar domestic hot water system that supplies hot water and space heating to the Hampshire County Jail And House of Correction located in Northampton, Massachusetts.  This solar hot water system was originally put into service in 1984 and remains one of the largest in the eastern United States.

Single Family Residence, Mansfield, Massachusetts

On May 26, 2007 Advanced Energy Systems Development installed a solar domestic hot water system sized for two adults at their residence in Mansfield, Massachusetts.  The flat plate collector is a Heliodyne Gobi 410.

On September 29, 2007 Advanced Energy Systems Development installed a solar domestic hot water system sized for two adults at their residence in Medfield, Massachusetts.  The flat plate collector utilized in this installation is a Heliodyne Gobi 410.  A previously installed 3.6 kw photovoltaic system borders the solar collector.

On November 2, 2007 Advanced Energy Systems Development installed a solar domestic hot water system sized for two adults at their residence in Milton, Massachusetts.  The flat plate collector is a Heliodyne Gobi 410.

On December 1, 2007 Advanced Energy Systems Development installed a solar domestic hot water system sized for three occupants at their residence in Franklin, Massachusetts.  The collectors are installed on a ground mount due to roof orientation and shade issues.  The evacuated tube collectors utilized in this installation are Apricus 22's.

Swimming Pool Solar Heater, Wayland, MA

On June 10, 2008 Advanced Energy Systems Development installed a two rack Sun Maxx 25 solar pool heating system at a single family residence in Wayland, MA.  The two racks consisting of a total of 50 evacuated tubes will be used to heat a radiant floor heating system in the cold weather.

On July 19, 2008 Advanced Energy Systems Development installed an Apricus AP 30 evacuated tube domestic hot water system at a single family residence in Framingham, MA.

Single Family Residence, Acton, MA

On September 2, 2008 Advanced Energy Systems Development installed a ten module UniSolar PVL-68 Thin Film Laminate photovoltaic system at a newly constructed office/garage at a single family residence in Acton, MA.  This system utilizes an SMA Sunny Boy 1800 string inverter.  The then film laminates are directly applied to the roof dormer standing seam metal roof.

On September 14, 2008 Advanced Energy Systems Development installed a two rack-60 tube Apricus evacuated tube solar domestic hot water system at a single family residence in Norfolk, MA.  The installed system is not visible from

the front or side of the house.

On September 25, 2008 Advanced Energy Systems Development installed a two panel Schuco SLIM V flat plate collector domestic hot water system at a single family

residence(new construction) in Lincoln, MA.

On October 2, 2008 Advanced Energy Systems Development installed a two panel Schuco SLIM V flat plate collector domestic hot water system at a single family

residence in Weymouth, MA.  In order to avoid shading from a large tree to the south of the front south facing roof the panels were installed on a Schuco eZ Frame Tilt Rack.  The panels are

located on the rear roof of the house.

Single Family Residence, Brookline, MA

On November 22, 2008 Advanced Energy Systems Development installed an Apricus AP-30  evacuated tube solar domestic hot water heating system at a single family residence in Brookline, MA.  Due to roof orientation(shading) and material(slate,)

the collector was installed on the garage roof.  Collector piping and control wiring were routed inside Corex tubing in trench and tunnel arrangement.

Single Family Residence, Lakeville, MA

On December 27, 2008 Advanced Energy Systems Development installed a two panel Apricus AP-20 evacuated tube collector solar domestic hot water system at a single family residence in Lakeville, MA.  The physical layout of the structure did not allow for the installation of the collectors on the house.  The collectors were installed on a site built ground rack and the pipes were routed to the basement in a trench.  The insulated pipes and cable were routed in a COREX  encasement for protection.  This system is operated by a BP SX 330 30 Watt photovoltaic module and an El Sid 20 PV Direct DC motor.

Single Family Residence, Newton, Massachusetts

On May 5, 2007 Advanced Energy Systems Development installed a solar domestic hot water system sized for two adults at their residence in Newton, Massachusetts.  The flat plate collector is a Heliodyne Gobi 410.

University of Massachusetts, Lowell, Massachusetts

Advanced Energy Systems Development is currently designing and will later install a Southwest Windpower Skystream 3.7 at the University of Massachusetts.  Installation of this unit will bring to four the number of wind turbines that the University has installed on a roof.  This method of siting and installing a wind turbine is extremely innovative.

On June 2, 2007 Advanced Energy Systems Development installed a solar domestic hot water system sized for four adults at their residence in Sudbury, Massachusetts.  The flat plate collectors utilized in this installation are Heliodyne Gobi 3366's.
